What is an interactive demo recorder?
An interactive demo recorder captures a real product workflow as a series of clickable steps instead of a video. With nVariant you install a Chrome extension, click through your web app once, and every click, scroll, and page change becomes a step that a viewer can click through at their own pace.
Each step keeps the screen it was recorded on, and in HTML replay mode the page structure too, so the result stays editable. You can fix text, hide an element, blur customer data, or add a hotspot later without recording again. That is the main difference from a screen recording, where any change means starting over.
Recorder at a glance
Works on
Any web app you can open in Chrome, including pages behind a login
Capture modes
Screenshot per click, or HTML replay
Privacy
Hide sensitive data while recording, blur regions afterwards
Output
A clickable demo you can share, embed, and track
Changes later
Edit text, images, and elements without re-recording
Everything you need to demo like a pro
Capture a live copy of your app or a screenshot per click, then edit, narrate, and share it from one place.
Live page recording
Click through any web app and nVariant saves a working copy of each screen, sharp at any size and editable after recording.
Interactive Hotspots
Add clickable hotspots to guide viewers through each step of your product flow with precision.
Annotations & Blur
Highlight key UI elements and blur sensitive data before sharing with prospects or customers.
AI Voiceovers
Generate natural-sounding voiceover narration for each step of your demo with a single click.
Shareable Links & Embeds
Share demos via trackable link or embed them on your website, email, or help docs in seconds.
Privacy Controls
Blur fields, redact content, and control exactly what viewers see before sharing externally.
Two ways to capture, one recorder
Pick a capture mode in the extension before you record. Screenshot mode is the fastest way to ship a walkthrough. HTML replay mode keeps a working copy of each page, so every step stays editable long after recording.
Screenshot mode
One image per click
The extension captures a full screenshot on every click and scroll stop. Lightest capture, works on any site, and nothing about your page markup leaves the browser.
Full page image saved per step
Hotspots placed anywhere on the frame
Blur regions drawn straight onto the image
HTML replay mode
A live copy of every screen
The recorder saves the structure of the page itself, so each step is a working copy of your app rather than a flat picture. Text, images, and elements stay editable afterwards.

Step 3
Real page structure captured per step
Hotspots snap to the element they were drawn on
Replace text, swap images, hide elements later
Record once, edit anything after
Your recording is not a flat video. Every step keeps its structure, so you can rewrite UI text, swap an image, hide an element, or blur a region long after the recording is done.
Page structure and a screenshot saved per step

What lands in every recorded step
One pass through your product produces everything the editor needs. You never have to set up a step by hand.

Hide sensitive data
Clicks and targets
Every click is stored with the element it landed on, so a hotspot can follow real UI instead of a fixed coordinate.
Scroll and viewport
Scroll position and viewport size are recorded per step, so the replay shows the same framing you saw while recording.
Page changes
Moving to a new page or tab starts a new step automatically, and the address is kept so viewers keep their bearings.
Sensitive data
Turn on hide sensitive data before you record and matching fields are masked at capture time, not patched afterwards.
Ship your first demo in under 5 minutes
No design skills needed. No engineering time required. Just install, click, and share.
1. Install & Record
Add the nVariant Chrome extension, click record, and browse your app naturally. Every interaction is captured in real time.
2. Edit & Annotate
Add hotspots, annotations, voiceover, and blur sensitive data. Trim, reorder, and personalize each step in the editor.
3. Share & Track
Publish your demo to a shareable link or embed it anywhere. Track views, completion rates, and viewer engagement.
How to record a demo people finish
A few habits before you press record make the difference between a tour people abandon and one they complete.
1
Plan the path first
Write down the five to ten clicks that reach the outcome. Long tours lose viewers, and the step funnel in analytics will show exactly where.
2
Use a clean demo account
Record in a workspace with realistic sample data, and turn on hide sensitive data so real names and emails never reach the recording.
3
Show one change per step
Pause between actions so each step shows a single change on screen. Clear steps make hotspots and AI narration easier to write.
4
Record short, connect later
Keep each recording focused on one job, then use chapters and branching in the editor to join related flows.
